Dorchester or Casterbridge as it was known in the days of Thomas Hardy is soaked in history and has remained fairly unchanged over time, retaining much of its original buildings and character.
Cornflowers is located in Durngate street which is right in the centre of Dorchester and a fabulous base from which to go off and explore all the delights of this historic market town and the surrounding area. To find Durngate street when driving down the main traffic streets of high east or high west street turn into church street on the left or right depending on direction. The church with the tallest spire is on the corner of church street and you will find us 30 yards or so by taking the first right turn along church street.
Built circa 1650 Cornflowers has been lovingly renovated in 2002 to create this delightful 4 star guest house and all its original features including beams and grand fireplaces still remain.
We have kept the emphasis here on Dorset! , as Dorchester is the county town and so much great local food is produced in and around here. Each room has a supply of complimentary nibbles produced locally and the hearty breakfast is made up of all Dorset produce from start to finish. So why gamble with other local accommodation when at Cornflowers you are sure to be on a winner!!
